Job Description Summary
The Urban Health Lab (UHL) Research Project Manager B is a unique opportunity to help lead a large NIH funded research study entitled "A Randomized Controlled Trial of Concentrated Investment In Black Neighborhoods to Address Structural Racism as a Fundamental Cause of Poor Health." Known as IGNITE, this trial is designed to improve health among Black Philadelphians through neighborhood vacant lot cleaning, abandoned house remediation, tree planting, trash pickup, tax preparation, financial counseling, micro grants, and maximizing public benefits. The Project Manager B will work closely with senior administrative staff as well as the study PI's - Urban Health Lab Faculty Director and Opportunity for Health Lab Director.

Position contingent upon funding.

Job Description

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of study implementation, including:
    o development and execution of study protocols.
    o regulatory aspects of the study including with the Penn IRB, the NIH,

    clinicaltrials.gov, as well as manage the study budget.
    o provide ongoing quality improvement for overall study to ensure fidelity in

    data collection and intervention execution.
    o Along with the data analyst and statistician, the PM will be responsible for

    overseeing all data collection and data management.
    o Lead team meetings, organization of all study files and data
  • Managing partner relationships, including Clarifi, Campaign for Working Families, Benefits Data Trust, Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, the City of Philadelphia, and other community partnerships, including coordinating and leading meetings, problem solving, and ensuring contracts are executed and implemented.
  • Manage and oversee the senior clinical research coordinator and a team of 4-5 Community coordinators who are responsible for neighborhood data collection and the household based intervention.
  • Work with PM Hilena Addis to hire, train, and manage part time community coordinator team
  • In partnership with Co-investigator Dr. Meghan Lane-Fall, lead the development of and execution of the qualitative aim of the study
  • Coordinate with PM Hilena Addis and PI Dr. Aditi Vasan for IGNITE Kids, a parent study to IGNITE.
  • Assist with manuscript development, translation and dissemination activities, assist with grant applications, budget development and management of study finances, and will assist with preparing work for presentations at national meetings.

    The ideal candidate (1) is passionate about the health and wellbeing of Black and other minoritized communities, (2) has knowledge and understanding of the regulatory and administrative mechanics of large research studies, (3) has experience coordinating large research studies, ideally community-based studies including data collection and management of large and complex teams, (4) has strong social, rapport building, and oral and written communication skills, (5) has demonstrated strong organization and managerial skills.

    The Penn Urban Health Lab (UHL)'s vison is racial, environmental, and economic justice for Black and Brown people and neighborhoods. The UHL has a focus in urban nature, blight remediation, violence prevention, and structural racism that has impacted Black and Brown communities. The Opportunity for Health Lab seeks to understand how the American Dream affects health and identifies ways to eliminate health disparities by improving economic opportunities.

    Qualifications

    Master of Science and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

    Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
